2007 FEES BEGINNING NOVEMBER 1st:
Children’s Aid Society assesses a flat Adoption Placement Fee.

Payment Schedule for Adoption Service Fee:

| Placement Fee | $12,000 | (due within three business days of placement) |
** CAS will pay up to $2,000.00 of birth parent expenses. Adoptive families will be responsible for any expense over this amount. CAS will inform the adoptive applicant of the approximate expenses that may be incurred prior to their profile being shown to the birth parents.
There are tax and insurance benefits available to significantly offset adoption expenses. Adoptive families may receive up to $10,390 in Federal tax credits (IRS form 8839), which may be taken over a period of five years. A State tax deduction has been available and adoptive families may also receive a health insurance adoption benefit.
ATTORNEY'S FEES:
You will have the choice of your own attorney to file an adoption petition (within 30 days of placement), and to also assist you with the finalization proceedings. These fees vary from $400-$1,000 depending on the attorney.
